Embassy of Japan in Albania starts issuing visas

Starting on December 1, 2017, visa applications can be submitted to the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Albania.   

The standard processing period is five working days from the date of the acceptance of the visa application by the Embassy. However, if any kind of checking is required (the submission of additional documents, an interview with the applicant, inquiries, etc.), or if a visa application is made for the purpose of a long-term stay without a Certificate of Eligibility, etc., the examination may take longer than five working days (from several weeks to several months). Please, also note that a visa application may be rejected as a result of the examination.
 (1) Short-Term Stay Visa

This visa is issued to those who wish to make a temporary staying in Japan up to 90 days for such purposes as: tourism; visiting relatives/friends/acquaintances; and short-term business affairs.
 (Notice) In either case, it is not allowed to perform any activities in Japan to undertake revenue-generating business operations or activities to receive remuneration.
 (Notice) Citizens of some countries (or regions) do not require a short-term stay visa. Please refer to the List of Countries and Regions for Visa Exemptions.  
(2) Work or Long-Term Stay Visa

When an application for visa is made for the purpose of employment, residency, etc. in Japan, it is necessary for a proxy in Japan to obtain the “Certificate of Eligibility” and then for the visa applicant to file a visa application to the Embassy submitting the original copy of the Certificate of Eligibility.
In order to obtain the Certificate of Eligibility, a proxy in Japan should make an application with the nearest Regional Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice to the proxy’s place of residence in Japan.
 (3) Visa for Medical Stay

This type of visa is issued to foreign patients wishing to visit Japan for medical purposes (including full medical check-ups) and to their accompanying person(s) as well if necessary and as needed.
 (4) Non-Albanian Citizens

Those individuals who have Albanian permanent/temporary residence permit or working visas are also eligible for submitting visa applications to the Embassy of Japan in Albania.
